The  goals of Impaired Driver Education Program Level II

is to

Introduce the concept of cognitive-behavioral approaches in preventing recidivism and relapse

Completion requirements:

• Understanding the facts and details of their DWI conviction
• A basic understanding of the patterns of AOD use and abuse and how your use fits these patterns.
• A basic understanding of the cognitive-behavioral change principle is that our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs, not the events outside of ourselves, lead to our feelings and behaviors.
• A basic understanding of the principles of relapse and recidivism and relapse and recidivism prevention.
• Know the difference between antisocial and pro-social attitudes and behaviors and demonstrate changes toward a more pro-social and caring approach toward the community and society.
• Explore and disclose social-emotional issues and related the issues to DWI behavior
• Develop a relapse and recidivism plan
• Meet the following participation expectations
• Complete all the excises and worksheets (Grading Scale of all assignments to include participation and knowledge of content; 4=Advanced 3= Proficient, 2=Partially Proficient, 1=Unsatisfactory. To complete this course, you must have a 3 in both participation and knowledge of content.
• Attend all sessions and be on time
• Be involved in structured sharing exercises in the group
• Complete homework assignments, including AOD thinking and action charting
• Keep all information learned about group members in trust and confidence, and not discuss it with other people
• Remain from AOD use during the program.
• Be AOD free when attending all sessions.

Level II education will be in an open group forum.  However, lesson one must be completed before joining other classes.  Lesson one can be as an individual and/or group session.  Once a client has completed lesson one the following will be the breakpoints in which the client can join the group sessions:

The facilitator will provide you with the specific expectations at the beginning of the course including policy for attendance, participation, and coursework, along with consequences for missed/late assignments.

Make-up work may be required if the client misses an assignment. This work is arranged, in advance if possible, between the facilitator and the client.  The client is responsible for contacting the facilitator for the additional assignments(s).

 Late Assignments/Assignment Revisions

Occasionally, work, health, and family obligations take priority over course work.  If you experience these issues, please notify the facilitator in advance.  If an assignment is due, please make every effort to submit your assignment on time.  In the case of a negotiated absence or delay, assignments turned in by the agreed upon due date will be determined by the facilitator and provided in the course expectations
